wondering about buying it.

I enjoyed starcraft and other RTS games but never played them online heavily.

Who's played SC2? thoughts?

I Loved the game back in the day along with diablo 2. I mean i used to play the warcraf-warcraft 3. But I'm not going to run out and buy. I have a few buddies that are SC2 fans and will have it tomorrow night. So i will go see how the gameplay is and how everything runs then decide. If you want the demo you can d/l it for free off battlenet

I will probably get it. There is too much hype. I must see it for myself.

I activated my guest pass to try it out first. Probably play later tonight. I'll report back later.

People who say its just SC1 with just better graphics are ignorant. C@C anyone? Its the same game with better graphics. Almost EVERY FPS is the same FPS with better graphics and minor differences.

Starcraft was a tried and tested RTS, that has no rivals. Of course SC2 Is going to feel the same. Why change what don't need changing. Most fans of the game didn't want it to change much, if at all. If your a fan of SC (A true fan, not a wannabe fan) you will like the game as much as you did starcraft 1.

Pretty much, the SP is awsome and keeps you interested between the RTS part. The cutscenes (CGI and non-cgi) are awsome.

If you expect to go into the MP without putting in effort to get better, then don't even bother. If your lazy and easily frustrated, don't bother. Starcraft 2 is one of the few games out there that require time and effort to be good.

Again, the MP will not be for everyone. If you don't know what effort means, stay offline, cause the majority of people who go into MP and get rolled, cry.

Definition of a SC2 fanboy right there folks.

p.s. Nobody here gives that much of a fuck about Starcraft 2 or your "real fan" boner for SC2. Thanks for the laugh though.

Pretty much how I feel about the SP atm. I give it an 80 overall, though I haven't dealt with MP much (I suck at RTS games, but do enjoy the gameplay). I don't really want to ruin it, but the storyline seems very cliché. It is fun, does last awhile, but just so predictable imo. I haven't been able to notice any new mechanics (doesn't include units) since SC1, such as all units move the same speed as the slowest in the group, pathing, coveresque system, etc.

There are some new additions though, such as co-op (friends vs AI) and Challenge Mode, where you are given a set of tasks and try to get Gold. Things such as using only hotkeys to last as long as you can against enemies or setting up given units against specific enemies to try and counter. The single player also has 3 achievements per level, for replayability, along with overall story achievements.

All-in-all, I think if some other studio created the same exact game, with different names, units, skins/models, etc., not many people would look twice at it. Reviewers would be hitting the 80-90 mark saying how it doesn't incorporate anything new developed over the past 10 years. If you don't care much about the Multiplayer, not worth the $60 imo.

SC1 was limited in what you could use in MP, hell even SP with regards to counters and rushes.

the introduction of units that ignore terrain and new abilities (i.e vortex, marauder concussive shells) are just some of the massive amounts of content added.

The new map editor, triggers, abilities etc are insane; for anyone who plays DoTA they have a new one out called SotIS, as well as tons of tower defense maps.

I imagine if you say this game is a graphically updated version of the first, you've never :
- Played a custom map
- Played a multi-player game outside of placement matches
- Played more than a few maps of the first starcraft
- didn't finish the single player campaign

I think if less people dismissed this game as "A re-make of the first", it'd be hailed the best RTS ev-.. oh wait, it already is.

Sc2 is baller. Enough said.

it was easily worth the wait. I never played the first one but myself and some friends play sc2 and have a few platinum/diamond rank teams together :). They did an excellent job since release too, it hasn't had many bugs or fixes or anything.

The ladder and ranking system is a piece of shit, single players missions are fun, story is shit. Multiplayer, despite what everyone says, is changed enough to play like a completely different game (at least strategy wise). If you dont see that watch any sc1 tourny and then the iem tourny games and you'll see.

On brutal, if you don't youtube every difficulty.

They're kinda jokey on hard.

Story does suck, for sure. Tosh is fun, though. So was the extra viking protoss bitch, for the 30 seconds she's in the game [hated the doctor anyways; easiest choice I've ever made].
